Stuffed Toys
My children are now adults and are starting to raise children of their own. My daughter is pregnant and is planning the nursery for the baby. She asked if she could have her old Stuffed Toys that she had as a child. I told her that they were in plastic bags in the attic. We went to the attic and brought out the toys. She had saved many of her favorites.
My daughter was always very careful with her toys growing up. She would put them away after playing with them. As a result most of her things were in very good condition. I told her that I thought we should find some way to sanitize the stuffed toys. I have read articles about the amount of germs that are in the fabrics of cloth toys. We did not want to place them in a wash machine. I told my daughter that a friend of mine had recently started her own company selling air purification systems. The literature that she had given me stated that the machines not only purified the air, but also killed surface bacteria. We decided we would call her to see if the product would work on the stuffed toys.
My friend was happy to bring over the air purifier and explain the different functions. She had us place the stuffed toys on the top of a bed and place a sheet over them. We then put the air purifier at the foot of the bed under the sheet and placed it on sanitation mode for two hours. When we completed the sanitizing the stuffed toys all smelled like they had been hanging on a clothes line. My daughter mentioned to my friend that she had painted the baby's room and also had new carpet installed. My friend told her that she should use the air purifier in the room. Paint and the chemicals used in carpet will emit fumes and gases for up to two years after installation. My daughter mentioned that she was having headaches since the new carpet was installed so we decided that must be from the fibers or the adhesive that is used. My daughter decided that she would purchase one of the air purifiers. This way she can sanitize the stuffed toys as well as other articles that the baby uses.
The nursery is now finished. It was very touching for me to see the stuffed toys that I had bought so many years ago, sitting on the shelves waiting for my grandchild to play with them. I am glad that I stored them for my daughter.
