In this day and age, you would expect high speed Internet service to be more standardized than it is. A lot of people think that High Speed Internet Providers are all the same, but they are not. Not only is one high speed Internet provider different from another, but even the same one is likely to offer different services in different areas. Deals come and go, services speed up and slow down, and Web traffic wreaks havoc on any standards that they try to set. Let's face it, shopping for high speed DSL or broadband can be tough!

I have had very mixed experience with high speed Internet providers myself. I work from home as a freelance writer, so having high speed Internet providers is very important for me. Most of the time I have used Comcast, but sometimes they have been good and sometimes they have been bad. I actually heard some bad things about Comcast before I started using them, and would have chosen different high speed Internet providers if they had been available in my area.

Nonetheless, the first time that I used Comcast, I was pretty pleased with the service. I wouldn't say it was blazing fast, but it was dependable. So naturally, when I moved to a new town, I chose Comcast over SBC DSL Internet. I was greatly disappointed. The Comcast that I was used to is not Comcast that I was getting. The bills were more expensive, the service was clunky and unreliable, and some days I would have no Internet at all. It was as if my high speed Internet providers computers were broken half the time! There is no other explanation for why their service kept crashing unexpectedly.

Honestly, there have been times when my high speed Internet providers have been so slow and unreliable that I've contemplated switching to dial-up phone Internet service! It really is that bad from time to time. Besides that, it is impossible to keep a good rate on high speed Internet providers. The Comcast service that I'm using now started at 20 bucks a month, which seemed like a very reasonable deal to me. It was only a matter of a few months, however, before it unexpectedly jumped to 60 dollars a month! It went from affordable to outrageous in one single step! I have wanted to change for a while, but I am afraid that I'll stumble into something that is even worse.
